Beijing Olympic Games - Jamaican Usain Bolt sets new men's 100-meter record

9.69 seconds - and he was just pissing about.

:)

update: 200 meters - New World Record 19.3 seconds - and boy did he work for it. Yes! He SO could have pulled a 9.3 for the 100m if he'd have put the same effort into that.

You mean Usain "Lightning" Bolt. I've been following the Track & Field, Ladies Gymnastics, and Mens & Women's swimming relays every single night since it started. Phelps beat Spitz, picked up his 8th gold of the event! U.S. totally dominated in the swimming events. I think Bolt is going for the 200 meter, right?

Best olympics since 1984 and 1988 (I think it was in Seoul one of those years, if I'm not mistaken. The Mary Lou Retton/Carl Lewis days.

yeah, Bolt's a 200m runner, his trainer wasn't even gonna let him run the 100m! Step up all you tall, lanky sprinters, Bolt has opened the gates.

it's been a great Olympics, especially the Judo. UK owns in rowing. Owns. And Phelps - well, that man has gills.

Finally, they're doing something about He Kexin. You know, the underage Chinese Gymnast? Nastia Luikan sooo deserved that GOLD MEDAL for the uneven bars. I hope they strip the whole lot of them, and U.S. goes from Team Silver to Team Gold. Like it should have been, from the beginning.

Other than that, it was nice to see the U.S. men and women pick up the ach Volleyball Golds, and I really had my fingers crossed for that Brit in the BMX, Reade? She fell.

you know,
I'm sure there's no ulterior motive to some scoring decisions but certain close calls do seem to have been a little 'favourable' to seed.
How old was Hexin? She looked about 7 years old - but most of them do.
