XLrecordings - MIA - Born Free

Very interesting new 9-minute Romain Gavras-directed music video for MIA's new single BORN FREE, a vivid illustration of how arbitrary Corporate Governance is not where humanity should be going ... not at all.

MIA released her new video for 'Born Free' on her website Monday, and it's not easy to watch. The video shows U.S. soldiers rounding up redheaded men and boys and bussing them to the desert where they are brutally beaten and killed. Whether it's a comment on the absurdity of genocide (of which MIA saw plenty during her early childhood in Sri Lanka) or a challenge to the idea of "other" in Arizona's immigration law, it is startling even in the context of recent genre-bending music art-films. "She was trying to show violence to end violence. It's for all the people that are doing the genocides in real life. Italians, Africans-- wherever it's from, it's still a genocide." says the child actor shot dead at the end of this video.

of course, because people are just so fucking thick, there's a chance they'll report this as "Yay, it's okay to murder redheads, now."
