BBC news reader Fiona Armstrong first clumsily insults him by introducing him as "Marcus Dowe" and piles insult onto injury with, "You're no stranger to riots yourself, I understand, are you? You have taken part in them yourself".
Darcus Howe retorted with, "I have never taken part in a single riot. I've been part of demonstrations that ended up in a conflict. Stop accusing me of being a rioter and have some respect for an old West Indian negro, because you wanted for me to get abusive. You just sound idiotic - have some respect."
Listen as the writer fluently expresses the anger and disdain of all the disowned and disaffected youth of today whose double-shift parents are too busy being slaves to the Corporate War Machine, to earn their daily crust and pay back the mortgages on their insanely-over-priced houses and accumulate debt for Three Year Consumibles they can't really afford, to spend time with their families like they used to.
Hey, maybe You The People just need cancerous MARTIAL LAW in UK to teach your kids about a Free Planet of Creativity, Passion and Kinship - right? Maybe You The People need your feral offspring removed from your families to 'learn em right' in State Institutions - right? Maybe You The People need MORE PRISONS to correct those young minds by less-than-minimum-wage slavery - right?
LOL at the simplistic mentality of the profit game.
Chronic self-harming, be it with razor blades or anorexic starvation or kids smashing up where they live, is indicative of a general lack of self-esteem. These dramatic attempted suicides are a desperate cry for help; a last-ditch effort to draw attention to a major crisis in our society and their lives.
Day Later update: The Guardian is reporting that Cameron looks for lessons from LA to tackle homegrown gangs. It seems Cameron's 'gang injuctions' were introduced in some areas of UK in January 2011 and they appear to have made no difference. Maybe even (on top of the insane Austerity culture of Big Society) aggravated or exacerbated the tinder-box situation to this unpolicable flash point.
Everyone forgets the L.A. riots of 1992. And all's these gang injunctions have achieved is an assault on civil liberties for people who've not even been convicted of crimes and pushing the gang colours into the over-crowded penal system, which is now rife with such arbitrary turf wars. Well done.
Is that the future for our kids, Mr Cameron? A tattood ass-fucker gang-leading them to safety in jail? As David Bowie sang, "This is not America!"
