Jaguar C-X75 Electric-Turbine Concept

Here's the stylistically precocious and technologically out there Jaguar C-X75.



They should cost £700,000 to £900,000 EACH when they go into production in 2013.

The C-X75 will be four-wheel drive and use a lightweight chassis made from carbon fibre. Already Jaguar is claiming a 0-60mph time of less than three seconds, a 0-100mph time of less than six, and a top speed in excess of 200mph.

Jaguar Brand Director Adrian Hallmark said: "The C-X75 received an incredible reception as a concept car. No other vehicle will better signify Jaguar's renewed confidence and excellence in technological innovation than this."

When the 'jet powered' C-X75 concept debuted at the Paris Motor Show 2010 it caused a stir because of its twin turbine engines. The two turbines, capable of spinning to 80,000rpm, generated power for the electric motor's battery pack.

'Jaguar continues to develop the use of the micro-turbine technology that was showcased in the original concept C-X75. Jaguar's parent company Tata has taken a significant stake in Bladon Jets, and will develop this very advanced technology as a medium-term aspiration that will play a part in Jaguars of the future,' said the British company's statement.
